Enjoy a gently moving river!
Stand Up Paddle Board on the River Mersey
SUP the Mersey
2026 is the year we are going to really get folk SUPing on the Mersey.
When conditions are right the Mersey from Stockport to Sale is the perfect environment to have a first introduction to moving water. ( some people still refer to the Mersey as dirty...we refer to it ( unless after a day of heavy rain) as "quite clean"...and we mainly aim to stay on the boards!!
Our trips will take you down a 5km section, Heaton Mersey to Northenden or Northenden to Jackson's Boat Pub and hopefully by the end of the trip you will be inspired and feel confident to do it again by yourselves if you have the kit, or maybe go and buy one if you don't already own one.
OUR INTENTION IS TO OFFER TRIPS EVERY TWO WEEKS. Meeting at 9:45am ( and if demand/request a 2nd at 1:30pm)
OUR OFFER
Maximum 7 paddlers per trip.
You come to our centre in the grounds of Burnage Rugby Club either with your board or use one of ours. ( or maybe a Northenden start to Jackson's Boat in Sale).
We will offer you a wetsuit* ( if you want/don't have your own), a buoyancy aid and helmet ( both compulsory).
We will then guide you down the Mersey stopping at some of the features to play in the moving water.
We will spend up to 2 hours on the water.
At the end we will provide a "Dry Robe" and will put the boards on top of our van and bring you back to the start point where you can change and get a hot drink.
We feel this will be the most efficient way of making the trip run smoothly is to include the shuttle back so everything is self contained.
Please note we operate a "no leash" policy...you won't loose your board.
PRICE
With your own board
£25 ( we will include wetsuit if you need- helmet and buoyancy aid)
Using one of our boards
£45 ( and all equipment provided)
*please note we have Small, Medium, Large wetsuits that fit most but not all people.
WE WILL, DURING THE YEAR, ALSO ORGANISE SOME TRIPS ON THE LOWER REACHES OF THE RIVER.
We can organize bespoke trips if you CONTACT us and can offer some discount with a minimum of 5 paddlers.
